About The Position

This is a temporary Extra Help position to conduct research in the Kaur lab. Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent.
Any one or combination totaling two (2) years (24 months) from the categories below: Coursework in natural science (such as biology, veterinary medicine, chemistry, physiology, microbiology) as measured by the following conversion table or its proportional equivalent: 30 semester hours equals one (1) year (12 months) Associate's Degree (60 semester hours) equals eighteen months (18 months) 90 semester hours equals two (2) years (24 months)
Work experience in a natural science laboratory (such as biology, veterinary medicine, chemistry, physiology, or microbiology laboratory techniques).

Responsibilities

Rear and maintain model organisms (e.g., Drosophila colonies, and microbial cultures) under established laboratory protocols.
Prepare reagents, buffers, and growth media required for daily laboratory experiments.
Support experimental workflows by setting up assays, collecting samples, and recording experimental observations.
Perform and assist with routine molecular biology experiments including DNA/RNA extraction, PCR, gel electrophoresis, qPCR, or other downstream molecular analyses.
Perform basic microscopy and imaging to document experimental results.
Maintain accurate laboratory records in electronic or physical lab notebooks.
Organize and manage biological samples, including labeling, storage, and tracking.
Assist with routine laboratory maintenance, including equipment calibration, cleaning, and inventory management.
Assist with restocking laboratory supplies and maintain reagent inventories.
Follow institutional biosafety, chemical safety, and laboratory compliance procedures.
Participate in literature reading, weekly/biweekly meetings with the PI and assist in summarizing experimental results.
Support senior research personnel with ongoing research projects.
Contribute to data entry, preliminary data analysis, and figure preparation when needed.
Perform other related duties and participate in special projects as assigned.
