The Natural Resources Education Intern supports projects in the Red Cliff Treaty Natural Resources Division, including fisheries, wildlife, and hatchery work. The intern coordinates with the Red Cliff Boys and Girls Club to plan natural-resource lessons and workshops for youth. This is a school-year internship beginning in September 2026 and continuing while funding is available and the student remains interested. The position is based at the Fish Hatchery Office in Bayfield, Wisconsin, pays $18.00 per hour, and is scheduled for 16 hours per week. The role is supervised by the Natural Resources Director and Wildlife Specialist and has no supervisory responsibilities. Applicants must be enrolled members of a Native American tribe, be under 25, and be enrolled in school while working toward a high school diploma, GED, college degree, or similar qualification. Preference is given to Red Cliff youth; other enrolled tribal members may be considered if candidates are equally qualified. No previous experience is required, though general knowledge of natural resources or experience working with youth is beneficial. Fieldwork may be arduous and requires fitness, walking on uneven terrain, and lifting at least 50 pounds. Work takes place on forest lands, in streams, on Lake Superior, at the hatchery, and at times in an office or garage/workshop. The crew often travels together to field sites within the reservation.
