About The Position

KC Harvey Environmental is seeking a Natural Resource Technician Intern to conduct natural resource field surveys and support project managers and field leads with data analysis and reporting duties. This position is available as permanent full-time or seasonal during the summer field season. The preferred location is Sheridan, Wyoming, but other locations may be negotiable. The role requires willingness to travel and work remotely, potentially independently. This opportunity is ideal for college students interested in natural resources with coursework in plant identification or wildlife biology.

Requirements

  • BS in range management, ecology, biology, or applicable field or working toward such degree.
  • Ability to work remotely, possibly solo, in inclement weather conditions.
  • Willingness to travel on extended, overnight field mobilizations.
  • A positive attitude and ability to work well as part of a team.
  • A valid driver’s license and clean driving record.
  • Experience driving 4x4 pickup trucks, ATVs, and UTVs.
  • A commitment to High Standards in Safety.
  • Ability to participate in pre-employment drug and alcohol test.

Nice To Haves

  • 1 to 2 years of experience in natural resource field work preferred.
  • College students with an applicable field of study that includes botany, biology, range science, or wildlife are encouraged to apply.
  • Preferred experience working in the Northern Great Plains, Rocky Mountains, and Intermountain West, including identification of fauna, flora, ecological assemblages, wetlands, and soils.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct field surveys using established protocols for vegetation monitoring, wildlife habitat assessments, wetland delineations, wildlife surveys, and more.
  • Use GPS, digital data forms or app-based forms, and hard copy data forms to collect data.
  • Work with other field staff, under the supervision of field leads or project managers.
  • Assist field lead or project managers with data entry, quality assurance, analysis, and summarization to meet protocol and regulatory requirements.
