In this full-time role, you will apply your proven public affairs skills to provide community outreach expertise to the United States Navy. Your work will help ensure the safety and security of our nation, while showcasing the Navy’s missions, equipment, and people through high-profile outreach events.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Arts/Bachelor of Science
  • Minimum of 5 years of event planning and public communications experience
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word and other Office products.
  • Proven experience in market research, event coordination, and media relations.
  • US citizenship required
  • Secret Clearance

Responsibilities

  • Provide public affairs and event planning support for Fleet Weeks, Navy Weeks and Executive Engagement Visits across the U.S., designed to highlight the importance of a strong Navy to the American way of life.
  • Conduct market research on designated cities to inform outreach strategies.
  • Participate in planning efforts, collaborating with teams via phone, email, and weekly conference calls; attend in-person meetings during site visits.
  • Identify and engage relevant organizations, corporations, government officials, and community groups to participate in Navy outreach events.
  • Plan and execute a variety of events, including high-level executive engagements, general public events, volunteer opportunities, and community visits.
  • Construct and submit itineraries, trip books, and schedules of events.
  • Serve as a point of contact for media engagements during planned engagements; monitor media activity generated by outreach events.
  • Demonstrate strong event planning, communications, and public affairs/media relations skills.
  • Ability to plan events with diverse groups and organizations.
  • Conduct daily and special assignment media searches and compile associated reports for distribution to internal and external stakeholders.
