About The Position

Omni Austin Hotel Downtown is seeking a highly motivated and driven sales professional to join their Sales team. This role will focus on developing the Group Market Segment, with an emphasis on group production, particularly for short-term, higher-rated, and less price-sensitive business within a specified geographic territory. The objective is to solicit new profitable business, skillfully merchandise guest rooms and function space to maximize revenue, and ensure an excellent customer meeting experience. The position requires achieving monthly room night goals, developing and implementing sales action plans, maintaining positive interdepartmental communications, and completing special projects as assigned by the Director of Sales & Marketing and Director of Sales.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of upscale hotel or resort group sales experience is required.
  • Must have outstanding verbal and written communication skills, and the ability to uncover customer needs, negotiate, provide great service, and close business.
  • Must be flexible with schedule to work include some evenings and weekends.
  • Ability to work in a variety of settings, including sedentary seated computer work, standing for periods of time, and walking the property, and occasionally conducting work that includes lifting and moving objects of up to 50 pounds.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.
  • Comfort with Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint is preferred.
  • Mastery of Delphi/FDC/Salesforce.
  • Extensive experience with writing contracts and responding to RFPs.

Responsibilities

  • Consistently achieve monthly, quarterly, and annual room night and revenue booking goals.
  • Attain targeted average room rate and total revenue objectives as outlined in the team budget.
  • Proactively solicit accounts within assigned market segments and geographic territories.
  • Identify, pursue, and develop new business opportunities aligned with the hotel’s target market.
  • Maintain a strategic and detailed territory roadmap, including key accounts and prospective clients.
  • Meet or exceed weekly activity goals, including phone calls, site inspections, and in-person appointments.
  • Leverage all available prospecting resources, including internal databases, lead services, and personal network.
  • Respond promptly to leads generated by Omni Global Sales offices and third-party lead services.
  • Actively participate in industry associations, conferences, and trade shows to represent the hotel and generate leads.
  • Demonstrate expert knowledge of market segment nuances and their impact on hotel profitability.
  • Collaborate on the development of group sales promotions based on market demand and business needs.
  • Remain knowledgeable of all Omni-sponsored promotions and communicate them effectively to clients.
  • Stay informed on industry trends and developments through trade publications and relevant news sources.
  • Achieve targeted referral goals by generating business for other Omni Hotels & Resorts properties.
  • Monitor and utilize Knowland and similar platforms to identify new group business opportunities.
  • Assist in the creation and execution of the hotel’s Sales Action Plan and Key Results Areas (KRAs).
  • Submit accurate monthly sales reports.
  • Maintain current and detailed records in FDC (Delphi) including traces, account histories, and booking notes.
  • Participate in the rolling production forecast process to ensure accurate business projections.
  • Negotiate, prepare, and review contracts in accordance with hotel billing standards and rate guidelines, under the direction of the Director of Sales.
  • Follow all established sales office procedures, standards, and systems.
  • Actively engage in all sales meetings as assigned, including Daily Business Review (DBR).
  • Plan and conduct impactful site visits that reflect professionalism and highlight the hotel’s value.
  • Perform in a manner that demonstrates the philosophies of The Power of One and Omni Hotels in a professional manner to clients and potential clients at every opportunity.
  • Uphold and promote a high-quality, professional image of the hotel in all internal and external interactions.
  • Respond to any reasonable task as assigned by manager.
  • Aid guests in locating other areas of the hotel (walk them to destination if possible).
  • Familiarity with parking validation procedures.
  • Follow all company safety and security policies and procedures; report accidents, injuries, and unsafe work conditions; complete safety training and certifications.
  • Follow all company policies and procedures; ensure clean uniform and professional personal appearance; maintain confidentiality of proprietary information; protect company assets.
  • Develop and maintain positive working relationships with others; support team to reach common goals; listen and respond appropriately to the concerns of other employees.
  • Ensure adherence to quality expectations and standards; identify, recommend, develop, and implement new ways to increase organizational efficiency, productivity, quality, safety, and/or cost-savings.
