About The Position

This National Nurse Residency application is designated for our East Valley locations, including Mercy Gilbert Medical Center, Chandler Regional Medical Center, and Arizona General Hospital East Mesa. For the National Nurse Residency Program, candidates may choose to apply to either the East Valley locations or St. Joseph’s Hospital and Medical Center. St. Joseph's Hospital and Medical Center is a 571-bed, not-for-profit hospital located in Phoenix, Arizona. Founded in 1895, it is dedicated to caring for the poor and underserved and is a nationally recognized center for quality quaternary care, medical education, and research. It includes the Barrow Neurological Institute, Norton Thoracic Institute, Cancer Center at St. Joseph's, Ivy Brain Tumor Center, and St. Joseph's Level I Trauma Center. The hospital is also a respected center for high-risk obstetrics, neuro-rehabilitation, orthopedics, and other medical services. Requirements

  • Minimum Completion of board approved nursing program.
  • AZ or Compact RN License- you must have a current RN license the week prior to program start date.
  • Current Healthcare Provider AHA BLS completion card.

Nice To Haves

  • BSN program completion preferred.
  • Nurse extern I program completion.
  • Letter of recommendation from nursing program clinical instructor.

Responsibilities

  • Make the transition from practicing procedures as a student to becoming a professional nurse.
  • Build trust with your clinical preceptor and patients as you practice classroom concepts in real-time.
  • Establish your position as a reliable resource and helpful supporter of patients and families.
  • Put your classroom experience into practice.
  • Work in patient rooms, quickly rotating between immediate needs and check-ins to provide patient care while being monitored by your preceptor.
  • Learn more about the business and operational practices in our facility.
  • Develop patient advocate skills through observance and practice.
  • Build your nursing skills as you learn to put your education into practice with actual patients.
