You will instruct high quality Lifesaving Society National Lifeguard courses that are consistent with the Lifesaving Society’s guidelines and standards. Courses are run in our Health and Wellness branches. You will plan and organize courses using short-term and long-term lesson planning. You will attend all staff meetings and trainings as required. Course instructors are responsible for organizing materials and setting up and taking down equipment for the course. You will have the opportunity to develop strong relationships with course candidates and your peers as you assist in creating a safe and welcoming facility for all.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience lifeguarding and teaching aquatic leadership courses.
  • Current Lifesaving Society National Lifeguard Instructor certification.
  • National Lifeguard Instructor and Examiners certification.
  • Current National Lifeguard certification.
  • Current Standard First Aid with CPR-C certification.
  • Willingness to work flexible hours mostly evenings and weekends.
  • Required to present a clear, current, Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector screening.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous experience in an aquatic leadership role (e.g., Head Lifeguard, Team Lead, Deck Supervisor).
  • Commitment to working in a socially inclusive environment responding with sensitivity and personal awareness to diverse needs.
  • Well-developed interpersonal and relationship building skills with the ability to establish rapport and excellent communication with course participants, parents and team members.

Responsibilities

  • Organize materials and set up and take down equipment for the course.
  • Develop strong relationships with course candidates and peers.
  • Assist in creating a safe and welcoming facility for all.
