We are looking for an Industrial Market Sector Leader to drive national growth in this sector, which includes general and advanced manufacturing facilities, aerospace facilities, data centers, distribution & logistics, landfills, legacy environmental projects, and recycling centers. The ideal candidate will demonstrate capabilities and experience growing revenue and delivering services within MacKay’s core Industrial market sector, including environmental consulting and permitting, engineering & design, land surveying, landscape architecture, construction management and inspection, Geographic Information Systems (GIS), and planning & entitlement. This position reports directly to the Chief Growth Officer. This national leader will partner with technical experts to deliver high-quality projects and ensure long-term client satisfaction. They will function as a trusted advisor, gaining a thorough understanding of both short and long-term challenges across the business landscape, translating business needs, funding tailwinds, and project delivery risks. Requirements

  • 10+ years in the A&E industry, with progressive Business Development responsibilities across multiple industrial and manufacturing clients
  • Demonstrated success in winning industrial opportunities and leading growth strategy
  • Extensive experience in evaluation, design, construction management, and implementation of advanced solutions for site strategy development and risk assessment across a variety of clients
  • Strong understanding of industrial procurement (RFQ/RFP, on-call contracts, QBS where applicable)
  • Proven ability to operate in a seller-doer model and generate new business
  • Executive presence with industrial sector stakeholders and strong communication and negotiation skills

Responsibilities

  • Take ownership of annual industrial pipeline and backlog targets while managing a robust pipeline of near-, mid-, and long-term opportunities.
  • Consult on regulatory strategies to develop a comprehensive approach to environmental and remediation consulting for our clients.
  • Spearhead capture planning efforts, including stakeholder mapping, competitive positioning, teaming strategies, pricing, and technical differentiation.
  • Execute “early-positioning” initiatives to shape project definitions before RFQ/RFP release through CIP support, planning workshops, and needs assessments.
  • Lead shortlist interviews and negotiations, providing critical support for contract execution, on-call renewals, and project extension strategies.
  • Build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including regulatory, state, and local agency decision-makers.
  • Develop and execute account plans for top clients: whitespace (bluesky) analysis, cross-sell strategy, pursuit calendars, and relationship touchpoints.
  • Serve as an escalation point for client satisfaction and issue resolution; protect and expand long-term accounts.
  • Track Industrial capital trends, regulatory drivers, and funding programs; translate into actionable pursuit targets and client advisory.
  • Help clients align scope, schedule, and deliverables with funding requirements and procurement pathways.
  • Partner with marketing and technical teams to produce winning submittals: resumes, project sheets, and value propositions.
  • Enforce disciplined go/no-go and pursuit gating; improve proposal hit-rate and ROI.
  • Coordinate with service line leaders and PMs to ensure staffing plans, technical approach, QA/QC, and schedule are aligned during pursuit and handoff.
  • Mentor PMs and technical staff in client service, relationship building, and seller-doer behaviors.
  • Collaborate with technical leadership to broadly monitor multipliers, utilization targets, and realization rates within the industrial sector to ensure growth is both sustainable and profitable.
