This role is for a highly motivated and experienced National Business Development Leader (NBDL) to lead the public sector business development team. The NBDL will identify growth opportunities aligned with the company's vision and strategic plan, lead decision-making for organizational change, leverage existing partnerships, and develop new strategic relationships to achieve sales, market position, and client satisfaction goals. Expertise in sales within the water and environmental markets in the public sector is required. The role supports a market-led approach by leveraging Woodard & Curran's talent to create client value and promotes organizational values and employee development.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 10 years of related experience leading teams to achieve market growth and business development goals in the environmental sector.
  • Proven consulting industry leadership in client development, sales systems, and public sector environmental services.
  • Demonstrated success developing and executing client growth strategies aligned with company objectives that achieve goals.
  • Strong client service mindset with the ability to understand client needs, priorities, and decision-making structures.
  • Excellent interpersonal and influencing skills across internal and external stakeholders.
  • Disciplined management approach with the ability to define outcomes, set priorities, direct action, and strengthen processes and systems.
  • Consistent demonstration of integrity and accountability to build trust and meet commitments.
  • Experience building high-performing, sustainable, collaborative teams with strong morale.
  • Proven leadership under pressure, including sound decision-making, change leadership, and the courage to drive needed improvements.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute a comprehensive business development strategy for public sector clients aligned with the company's objectives and vision that achieves sales targets, revenue growth, and profitability goals.
  • Build, develop, and manage a high-performing business development team capable of executing sales and client service initiatives, including client management plans, large-account strategies, and the identification and development of future Client Managers.
  • Lead the development and implementation of strategic market and client plans that leverage the company's strengths and unique offerings in the public sector.
  • Recommend and implement sales strategies and improvements based on market research, regulatory drivers, and competitor analyses, including developing discrete service offerings and market content in conjunction with technical and operational leadership.
  • Collaborate across the organization and manage budgets to achieve the targeted cost of sales.
  • Foster a culture of innovation, continuous improvement, and client-centricity within the business development team to deliver exceptional results and exceed client expectations.
  • Monitor market trends, industry developments, and regulatory changes shaping the public sector water and environmental landscape to identify growth opportunities and inform strategic decision-making.
  • Cultivate strategic partnerships and relationships with key stakeholders in the public sector, including industry leaders, potential clients, and government entities, to drive business growth and enhance market position.
