About The Position

The National Accounts Manager will be a key driver of growth within the grocery retail sector, responsible for managing strategic accounts and developing tailored solutions that increase revenue and market share. This role requires building strong relationships with key decision-makers, interpreting market and POS data, and leveraging insights to optimize category performance. The position involves frequent travel to customer sites, collaboration with cross-functional teams, and active participation in strategy development to meet sales objectives. The ideal candidate is analytical, solution-oriented, and capable of translating market intelligence into actionable plans that enhance both account performance and overall business outcomes.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 7+ years of direct sales experience in retail grocery, with experience in Kroger or Ahold/Delhaize highly preferred.
  • Proven track record of meeting or exceeding demanding sales goals.
  • Strong analytical and strategic skills with the ability to interpret data and identify fact-based sales opportunities.
  • Exceptional negotiation, account management, and category management skills.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills; ability to adapt style to engage both internal teams and external clients.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to set priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to travel frequently and independently manage account responsibilities.

Responsibilities

  • Manage assigned national grocery accounts, driving revenue growth, retention, and category development.
  • Develop and execute customer-specific sales strategies aligned with overall business goals.
  • Analyze POS data, market trends, and competitive activity to identify opportunities and make recommendations.
  • Build and maintain executive-level relationships with key account stakeholders.
  • Own account results, including revenue, profit, trade spend, and marketing execution objectives.
  • Collaborate with internal teams—Customer Service, Marketing, Supply Chain—to ensure operational excellence.
  • Prepare and deliver written and oral presentations, sales forecasts, and account performance reviews.
  • Negotiate contracts, proposals, and agreements with key accounts, ensuring alignment with company objectives.
  • Resolve disputes and ensure timely collection of receivables, coordinating with internal teams as needed.
  • Conduct face-to-face selling and maintain frequent travel to customer locations.
