About The Position

Founded in 1898, Mutual of Enumclaw is a people-first insurer rooted in community, recognized as Washington’s Best Company to Work For for the 13th consecutive year, and proudly serving individuals, families, farms, and businesses through local independent agents across the West. ​ The National Accounts Manager reports to the Sr. Sales Director and is responsible for managing and growing relationships with large, clients and broker partners. This role focuses on strategic account development, negotiation, and maximizing revenue for both Mutual of Enumclaw and its national accounts, while ensuring exceptional service and experience. Location: Preference will be given to candidates located in WA or OR, and they must be open to 50% travel. Candidate must be able to work our core Pacific time business hours, and have high-speed internet (internet speed test required). Hiring Range: $132,200 - $166,700 Salary Range: $132,200 - $220,800 The hiring range represents Mutual of Enumclaw’s current hiring pay scale for this role. Mutual of Enumclaw reserves the right to modify or update this range any time. Exact compensation may vary based on skills and experience. Requirements

  • Advanced-level technical expertise with deep knowledge of Independent Agency distribution, agency sales operations, and underwriting disciplines.
  • Proven capability in strategic relationship management, including negotiation, conflict resolution, cross-functional collaboration, influence, advisory consulting, decisive judgment, and leadership.
  • Demonstrated ability to operate independently and deliver high‑quality results with minimal oversight.
  • Strong aptitude for building, strengthening, and sustaining meaningful business relationships at all organizational levels.
  • Track record of developing and executing strategic and tactical marketing initiatives that drive profitable premium growth and expand business opportunities.
  • Demonstrated innovation and analytical capability in assessing agency-specific needs and structuring complex business development agreements and contractual engagements.
  • Highly proficient organizational and time‑management capabilities; exceptional interpersonal, written, verbal, listening, analytical, and presentation skills.
  • Proven ability to lead and influence cross-functional teams in a fast‑paced, service‑focused environment.
  • Proficiency with personal computer systems and software, along with a foundational understanding of insurance industry technology platforms.
  • Bachelor's degree required.
  • 8- 10+ years of field territory sales, sales strategy, relationship management, Agency Training, Independent Agent sales, Agency Management, Underwriting, Product Development, or related insurance experience.
  • 5-10+ years working with the Independent Insurance Agency channel.
  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer, including video conferencing.
  • Meet requirements of 50% travel, after-hours, on-call, and weekend work as necessary, and perform physically active marketing activities while remaining effective.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute strategies to grow national accounts and drive profitable results.
  • Negotiate terms, total compensation structures, and agreements to ensure mutual benefit and long-term success.
  • Focus on maximizing revenue for both Mutual of Enumclaw and the national accounts through innovative solutions and collaborative planning.
  • Obtain and actively manage the book roll and book consolidations.
  • Research and obtain alternate distribution channels.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for designated national accounts.
  • Build strong relationships at multiple levels within broker and client organizations.
  • Develop a strong understanding of the accounts' overall capabilities and opportunities.
  • Provides relationship guidance and input to Mutual of Enumclaw’s RSMs.
  • Organize and coordinate large, complex renewals, ensuring timely submissions, pricing alignment, and smooth execution.
  • Collect, review, and act on feedback from internal and external sources to continuously improve processes and optimize the overall experience and outcomes.
  • Identify and manage trends, including competitor activity, technology needs, and evolving market conditions, to maintain a competitive edge.
  • Work closely on merger and acquisition activity within national accounts, ensuring continuity of service and strategic alignment during transitions.
  • Partner with customer service, product, underwriting, claims, operations, and Regional Sales Managers to deliver tailored solutions and resolve issues promptly.
  • Partner to build product and underwriting-specific capabilities that leverage scale, capabilities, and expertise.
  • Monitor account performance using KPIs, dashboards, and scorecards.
  • Identify and execute opportunities for improvement and implement best practices.
  • Oversee program launches, renewals, and contract compliance.
  • Collaborates in pricing discussions, underwriting, submissions, and endorsement processes.
