About The Position

The Lead Technician provides oversight of work assigned and Leads the Aircraft Maintenance Technicians. Responsible for Quality and Quantity of work output and adherence to all Company Policies, Manuals, and FAA Regulations, Approved Parts and Data. Ensure a positive work environment and promote Technician development while enforcing standards of Safety and Efficiency.

Requirements

  • Hold an FAA Technician Certificate with Airframe and Powerplant ratings. (Required).
  • Must have 2 years of experience on the type of aircraft for which they are supervising maintenance.
  • Must be knowledgeable of and have extensive experience in repair and troubleshooting of Company maintained aircraft.
  • Must have the ability to supervise personnel and maintain adequate production levels.
  • Must be qualified to run/taxi type of aircraft on which they are supervising.
  • Experience returning aircraft to service within one year of achieving position (not applicable to relief leads).
  • Requires a valid driver’s license and clear driving record.
  • Must be able to pass pre-employment drug screening, background check and receive TSA clearance to operate in secure area.
  • Willingness to Travel up to 20% for Outstation Aircraft Maintenance.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as U.S. government regulations (i.e. FAA), manufacturers manuals, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Demonstrated ability to give clear oral and written instructions to staff or other team members.
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Demonstrated ability to follow oral and written instructions.
  • Ability to communicate effectively within the Maintenance Department and with other Departments as needed.
  • The employee must frequently move up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 70 pounds.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, or tools.
  • The employee is frequently required to stand on Ladders; walk; sit; reach with hands and arms (full range of motion); climb or balance; and stoop, kneel; crouch, or crawl.
  • May be required to work in confined spaces for extended periods.
  • The employee must have the ability to climb and stand on ladders for up to two hours.
  • The employee will need to see, speak and hear.

Responsibilities

  • Leads the Technicians on all Maintenance, Scheduled and Unscheduled, performed on Company Aircraft.
  • When an Aircraft goes into “AOG” Status, open an AireXpert narrative stating the Aircraft Log Page Discrepancy and Communicate this Status to the NAC Flight Followers.
  • Monitor Aircraft Status and Communicate Updates on “Advise Time” or “Return to Service” on “AOG” Aircraft to NAC Flight Followers and/or AireXpert.
  • Monitor Aircraft Status Board and ensure a timely, well communicated Aircraft availability plan with NAC Flight Followers and/or AireXpert.
  • Control MEL Usage; Request and Expedite parts when necessary.
  • Monitor Aircraft Cycles and Flight Hours to ensure Inspections, and Aircraft Maintenance or MEL/DMI/CDL Dates or Times do not Expire.
  • Update Aircraft Status Board and Communicate MEL/DMI/CDL “Open” and “Closed” Status with NAC Flight Followers.
  • Audit Work Packages, Inspection Forms, Log Pages, and Records for accuracy and timely submission to NAC QC Records.
  • Update, Monitor, check Part Number Effectivity, and Audit TRAX for correctness and completion in a Timely manner.
  • Monitor all Maintenance tasks and ensure all work performed and is Documented prior to Aircraft Release for Flight.
  • Maintains the Line Maintenance Turnover Log, reporting all work accomplished on their shift, pertinent open items, items in Troubleshooting, and any special instructions.
  • Coordinates the Deicing/Anti-icing procedures and ground crews on a day-to-day basis.
  • Ensures Apprentice Technicians receive proper on the job training (OJT) and their school/logbook progress toward their A&P License is monitored.
  • Assign Technicians based on Qualifications and ensure ongoing Training and Certification.
  • Identify Safety Hazards within the Maintenance Department, Company operations, and Reports those Hazards through the WBAT or departmental Hazard reporting systems.
  • Provide performance feedback and initiates employee disciplinary actions for direct reports.
  • Be reliable and maintain regular attendance/punctuality.
  • Scheduling Day-To-Day Manpower to meet operational demands.
  • All Lead Technician Responsibilities are in addition to Maintenance Technician Responsibilities.
  • Assume Temporary Responsibilities of Maintenance Manger when specifically delegated in the absence of the Maintenance Manager to include attending and/or leading meetings as required.
  • Ensure completion of assigned Hangar Tasks and Projects.
  • Ensure Timely Injury Reporting and Incident Documentation via the Red Injury Folder and Nurse Triage process.
  • Other duties as assigned by the Maintenance Manager.
