About The Position

The Haleon R&D organization supports the development of new OTC drugs, cosmetic products, wellness products, and medical devices. Analytical sciences play a crucial role in new product development by creating, validating, and transferring advanced methods that support innovation and drive growth. This exciting role's primary job function is leading a team of analytical scientists focused on the delivery of projects and initiatives to support NA Wellness R&D. This role is intimately familiar with separation sciences and detection technology and helps oversee the exploration of new technology within the Analytical department. This role is recognized as an excellent people manager as well as a subject matter expert in analytical chemistry along with knowledge of related fields of chemistry such as, but not limited to, organic chemistry, spectroscopy and physical chemistry. The role requires close collaboration with leaders in New Product Development, Quality/Supply Chain and Regulatory teams.

Requirements

  • BS Degree or equivalent in Chemistry (Analytical/Separation Science, Organic, or Physical) or other scientific area of expertise.
  • 7+ years of relevant analytical chemistry experience within regulated pharmaceutical, OTC, or consumer products industries.
  • Deep expertise in analytical and separation sciences, including chromatographic and mass spectrometry-based technologies.
  • Experience implementing innovative analytical approaches to address complex product development and quality challenges.
  • Strong understanding of regulatory, quality, and compliance requirements within pharmaceutical, OTC, or consumer health environments.
  • Proven ability to lead and develop high-performing scientific teams in a matrix organization.
  • Broad chemistry knowledge with the ability to assess and resolve complex analytical and product-related issues.
  • Exceptional stakeholder management skills with experience influencing senior leaders and cross-functional partners.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage complexity, ambiguity, and competing priorities.
  • Demonstrated success leading and influencing within a matrix environment.
  • Passion for science and commitment to technical excellence and innovation.

Responsibilities

  • Provides HR and technical oversight to a team of analytical scientists supporting R&D innovation/product development.
  • Leads and allocates analytical resources for developing novel Wellness products across various dosage forms.
  • Ensures projects are planned and executed with sound technical principles and adhere to agreed timelines.
  • Ensures Analytical Development teams comply with GMP, ICH, and R&D policies and procedures.
  • Supports technology transfer and manages departmental operations and laboratory facilities.
  • Leads or participates in due diligence, new business opportunities, and product assessments as needed.
  • Collaborates with internal and external partners, including Formulations, Quality & Supply Chain, third-party testing facilities, manufacturing sites, and business units, to provide analytical chemistry support.
  • Works with Quality & Supply Chain teams to direct analytical test method development, validation, and transfer to support commercial product testing.
  • Leads efforts to enhance technical capabilities, develop analytical scientific staff, and interface with R&D teams.
  • Delivers effective presentations and writes tailored communications for internal and external partners, management, scientific communities, or Health Authorities.
