About The Position

The North America Regulatory Manager is responsible for ensuring that Buckman’s operations and products comply with local, national, and international laws and regulations. Their work ensures that the company avoids legal penalties, protects human health and the environment, and can legally market its products. This position covers the US, Canada, and supports Mexico, in collaboration with the international Regulatory department. In addition to compliance, this leader also owns the SDS authoring tool (Intelligence Authoring), responds to industry and customer requests, and facilitates key decisions in new products and raw materials.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in STEM forward
  • 10+ years of job experience
  • Strong leadership, organizational, and problem-solving skills
  • Strong attention to detail with a commitment to safety, quality, and compliance
  • Detailed knowledge and experience leading program within EPA jurisdiction particularly within TSCA and FIFRA

Responsibilities

  • Demonstrate and promote Buckman’s safety and environmental values through personal actions and leadership.
  • Proactively address and resolve safety, health, and environmental (S/H/E) concerns.
  • Ensure compliance with safety procedures and participate in required training, inspections, and audits. Hold self and team accountable for adhering to process safety requirements and risk mitigation efforts.
  • Develop and maintain a compliance calendar of all key regulatory dates, report monthly to senior leadership to ensure all dates are met. Execute the requirements outlined.
  • Develop and document internal policies and SOPs that align with current regulations.
  • Provide regular compliance training to employees, especially those in regulated functions.
  • Foster a culture of continuous improvement and accountability, including focal and site visits.
  • Gather regulatory and reporting expectations during the key contract and/or diligence phases.
  • Maintain a centralized repository of customer-specific compliance needs (e.g., SDSs, product certifications, declarations) and ensure standard channels (e.g. mailbox, recurring meeting) are maintained.
  • Assign ownership for regulatory customer support across the team.
  • In collaboration with IT, ensure software licenses and support exist for long term use of the tool.
  • Complete training and/or refresher training so that at least 2 members of the organization can use the tool at all times.
  • Ensure associates are properly trained on new procedures or updates.
  • Assess Current Team Structure and Capabilities.
  • Provide coaching and mentoring to team members.
  • Develop and Implement a Training Plan for each team member.
  • Improve Team Tools and Resources aligned with achieving long term KPIs.
  • Actively participate in Procurement TO and/or WIN room.
  • Maintain NPIP/NRIP action items to ensure continued progression of material approval (or rejection).
  • Ensure opportunities are prioritized based on value, time to value, and resourcing.
