About The Position

Under supervision, the Tax Officer will prepare tax workpapers for Regulated Investment Companies (“RICs”). This role involves preparing income and excise tax provisions and estimates for RICs, as well as asset diversification and gross income qualification tests. The analyst will also prepare year-end shareholder reporting calculations for Form 1099-DIV, assist with audits, and respond to client inquiries. A strong understanding of mutual funds and financial markets is expected, along with the ability to complete training sessions to enhance industry knowledge and work on special projects and ad hoc requests.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or business-related area or equivalent work experience.
  • Advanced experience working with Microsoft Office applications required, especially Excel.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare tax workpapers for Regulated Investment Companies (“RICs”).
  • Prepare income and excise tax provisions and estimates for RICs.
  • Prepare asset diversification and gross income qualification tests for RICs.
  • Prepare year end shareholder reporting calculations to provide to transfer agents for production of Form 1099-DIV.
  • Assist with audits and provide support as necessary.
  • Demonstrate an advanced understanding of mutual funds and financial markets.
  • Respond proactively to internal and external client inquiries.
  • Complete training sessions to increase industry knowledge.
  • Work on special projects, other regulatory filings and ad hoc requests as assigned.
  • Complete daily work in compliance with internal controls and procedures necessary to ensure quality products.
