About The Position

Seeking a Musical Director to work under the supervision of the Director in support of the spring musical theater production during the 2026-2027 school year. The program rehearses during class periods within the school day, with the exception of tech week which includes afternoon/evening rehearsals. The class period is from 2:00-2:45 pm each weekday, with alternating weeks having a longer Thursday session and no Wednesday meeting. The role requires participation in auditions, rehearsals, and tech/performance week.

Requirements

• High-school diploma
• Technically knowledgeable about play and musical production
• Experience working with student performers
• A proven, verifiable record of placing appropriate emphasis on academic excellence and character development.
• A demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with student performers, parents, colleagues, and administration.
• Full background check required for hire.

Nice To Haves

• Associate's degree or greater is preferred.
• Experience working with K-12 students preferred.
• Musical director experience
• Collaborative piano experience
• Vocal director experience
• Music degree or equivalent experience
• Experience working with students in a school setting

Responsibilities

• Attend actor auditions, assess singers' vocal ranges and abilities, and help the director cast the show.
• Teach the cast their singing parts, harmonies, and rhythms, ensuring everyone sounds great together.
• Attend a portion of tech week rehearsals to ensure music is solid.
