Music Therapist (32 hrs/wk)
About The Position
Iowa City Hospice is seeking a compassionate, creative, and dedicated Music Therapist to join our interdisciplinary care team. Requirements
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Music Therapy from an accredited program
- Certification or licensure as a Music Therapist (e.g., MT-BC or equivalent)
- Proven experience in clinical or therapeutic settings with 1 year of music therapy experience in a health care setting preferred.
- Strong musical skills and proficiency with a variety of instruments
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Ability to work collaboratively within multidisciplinary teams
- Compassionate, patient, and adaptable approach to therapy
- Knowledge of healthcare regulations and ethical standards related to therapy practice
- Demonstrates computer literacy with the ability to efficiently learn software applications, efficiently and accurately complete all documentation in electronic medical records systems, and efficiently and effectively use Microsoft Office products including Word and Outlook.
- The employee is required to have access to a car, have a current driver’s license, or have arranged other transportation that is readily available.

Responsibilities
- Assess patient needs and develop individualized music therapy plans that align with care goals.
- Provide one-on-one and group music therapy sessions utilizing a variety of evidence-based techniques and interventions.
- Create meaningful therapeutic experiences that promote comfort, relaxation, self-expression, emotional processing, and connection.
- Monitor patient responses and adjust treatment plans as needed to support optimal outcomes.
- Collaborate closely with physicians, nurses, social workers, chaplains, aides, and other members of the interdisciplinary care team.
- Support family members and caregivers through therapeutic music interventions and education.
- Maintain timely and accurate documentation of assessments, treatment plans, interventions, and patient progress.
- Stay current with music therapy research, best practices, and professional standards.
