About The Position

Devereux Pennsylvania Children's Services is seeking a Music Therapist to join their team. This role involves planning and implementing music-based instruction for students aged 5-21 with intellectual disabilities, developmental disabilities, and Autism Spectrum Disorder at the School for Integrated Learning (West Chester) and the CARES School (Downingtown). The position is shared between these two school programs, each focusing on individualized education tailored to students' unique strengths and needs.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree required
Experience in an educational setting working with individuals with intellectual disabilities, developmental disabilities, and/or mental health disorders leading group sessions/activities and integration of music into classroom activities and school-wide programming.
Excellent oral and written communication skills.
Valid driver's license must be maintained.

Nice To Haves

MA preferred.
Music Therapist-Board certified credential preferred

Responsibilities

Plan and deliver adapted music instruction for students with diverse learning needs
Maintain a safe, engaging, and inclusive classroom environment
Create lessons that promote communication and language development, social interaction and peer engagement, self-regulation and emotional expression, motor coordination and sensory integration
Provide structured group music activities, differentiating instruction to ensure access for all students
Collaborate with special education teachers and related service providers to align activities/instruction with student needs
