Corewell Health William Beaumont University Hospital opened on Jan. 24, 1955 as a 238-bed community hospital. Today, the hospital is a 1,101-bed major academic and referral center with Level I adult trauma and Level II pediatric trauma designations. Corewell Health William Beaumont University Hospital has 43 residency and fellowship programs with 454 residents and fellows. Corewell is the exclusive clinical partner of the Oakland University William Beaumont School of Medicine, with more than 1,400 Beaumont doctors on faculty. Assumes responsibility for evaluating client's need fro music therapy. Plans and executes treatment program in accordance with guidelines outlines by the American Music Therapy Association (AMTA). Maintains skills through continuing education. Serves as a clinical resource to peers, team members and client/family. Participates in quality improvement and program development activities. Music Therapist provides a unique opportunity for pediatric patients and families to use music as a form of therapeutic expression during the critical time of hospitalization. The Music Therapist provides music instruction, non-pharmacological pain management opportunities, procedural support, and bereavement memory making for children and their families on Pediatrics and in the adult ICU helping children of adult patients create keepsakes and heartbeat recordings during parental loss.
