About The Position

Are you looking for a career as a Music Therapist? Join our team at Barnes Jewish Hospital to make a direct impact on patient care and operations. This role works independently to complete patient assessments and facilitate therapeutic live music groups, with guitar or piano preferred. The Activity Therapist will join a collaborative team of Activity Therapists and Behavioral Associates and help engage patients through a variety of recreational and therapeutic activities in a well-equipped recreation space overlooking Forest Park.

Requirements

• BS in Music Therapy
• Board Certified Music Therapist
• Bachelor's Degree - Music Therapy
• <2 years experience
• No Supervisor Experience

Nice To Haves

• Guitar or piano preferred for facilitating therapeutic live music groups.
• 2-5 years experience
• < 2 years Supervisor Experience

Responsibilities

• Uses music therapy as a process that combines the verbally transcendent and emotionally authentic aspects of music with the needs of the patient.
• Serves as a resource person and guide providing musical experiences that will aid in patient care.
• Designs and conducts music sessions for individuals and groups, based on client needs.
• Coordinates therapy with other team members and shares response to music therapy intervention.
