About The Position

The AWP Music Therapist is a full-time mental health role within the Ascent Wellness Program Campus. The Music Therapist will be serving clients in mental health recovery, with an approach that follows AWP principles and mission in order to create accessible, inclusive, culturally-aware, and fully-customized mental health support services. The Music Therapist will work within multidisciplinary mental health teams and will follow a psychosocial rehabilitation approach focused on client’s choice. The Music Therapist will help develop intervention plans, including supporting a client’s journey toward autonomy by exploring music-based and sensory-based activities that can support the client in balancing their nervous system and bringing relief to symptoms outside of session. IMPORTANT NOTE: Up to 80% of clients are served in-home; a significant portion of the job involves travel between client homes within Milwaukee County.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Music Therapy from an AMTA-approved program
  • Board Certified Music Therapist (CBMT or WMTR)
  • A valid WI driver's license
  • State-mandated auto insurance
  • Access to a personal vehicle for travel to in-home appointments within Milwaukee County
  • Excellent professional communication and customer service skills
  • Ability to work independently with solid organization and time management skills

Nice To Haves

  • Prior work experience as a trauma-informed music therapist in a mental health setting
  • Ability to speak multiple languages
