About The Position

The Music Therapist is responsible for planning therapeutic and classroom music activities for individual students and groups which promote physical, cognitive, communicative, and psychosocial development and facilitates experiential learning of musical concepts, music appreciation, and musical skills. The Carruth Center provides child-centered, developmentally appropriate and impactful therapy services to children and their families through collaboration, meaningful connections and quality interventions. The Carruth Center is a non-profit organization.

Requirements

Degree (B.M./B.A./B.S.) in Music Therapy or Equivalency
Degree in Music Therapy minimum; or degree in music education with at least one or two years related experience and/or training
Highly proficient in MS Office applications
Board Certified Music Therapist (MT-BC credentials)
Must be proficient and comfortable on voice and guitar
Strong collaboration skills

Responsibilities

Plans music lessons/activities and leads music classes (Language Development Class) through music-based curriculum to support language and learning goals for individual students.
Plans instruction to achieve specific objectives based upon student need, established curriculum, and consultation with lead teachers/therapists.
Implements instructional techniques to encourage and motivate students.
Modifies and individualizes instruction of program to meet the needs of each child.
Researches music material, composes songs, and determines appropriate songs for students.
Collaborates and consults with other professionals for scheduling and to assist each student.
Attends collaborative consultation meetings and roundtable meetings to ensure continuity of care across all therapeutic and classroom settings.
Provides individual music therapy sessions for students on a referral basis for students who could benefit from music therapy services.
Maintains client records in company EMR system.
Ensures a safe and secure environment for all staff, students, and clients.
