About The Position

Music & Arts is seeking an educator and skilled musician to teach private music lessons and inspire students. The teacher creates an engaging, supportive, and safe learning environment for students of varying ages and skill levels. They communicate regularly with students and parents about goals and progress, and partner with store teams to schedule lessons and encourage student retention. Music & Arts handles administrative work so teachers can focus on teaching and helping students grow as musicians.

Music & Arts is part of the Guitar Center enterprise and is based in Frederick, Maryland. The company has more than 225 retail stores, 200 educational representatives, and 250 affiliate locations. Its mission is to create lifelong musicians and help people experience the joy of playing an instrument.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Music Education or Music Performance, or equivalent experience.
• Two years of music teaching experience.

Nice To Haves

• Advanced degree (Master’s or Doctoral) in Music.
• Professional teaching memberships or certifications.
• Eight or more years of teaching experience, especially with multiple instruments.
• Experience teaching banjo, baritone, bass clarinet, bass guitar, bassoon, cello, clarinet, flute, French horn, guitar, mandolin, oboe, percussion, piano, piccolo, saxophone, string bass, trombone, trumpet, tuba, ukulele, viola, violin, or voice.

• Partner with store teams to schedule lessons and encourage student retention.
