About The Position

The Music Teacher teaches music lessons to students according to the Guitar Center Lessons curriculum. The role works to grow student enrollment and help each student continue to develop and enjoy playing music, while supporting a culture of integrity, inclusion, musical passion, and respect. The Music Teacher partners with the store Lessons Lead to schedule and retain students based on community needs, assists with customer service as needed, and builds positive experiences that encourage long-term student participation. The role also maintains frequent communication with students and families about each student’s progress and goals. Pay is listed as $15.00–$17.05 per hour at the non-teaching rate and up to $23.60 per hour at the total teaching rate, depending on background and experience. Actual compensation may vary based on experience, education, and other factors, and ranges may differ by location.

Requirements

Previous experience in music, education, or a related field.
Ability to teach an instrument in which the applicant is proficient, such as drums, guitar, or keyboard.
Ability to demonstrate competency and proficiency in the area being taught.

Responsibilities

Partner with the store Lessons Lead to schedule and retain student headcount based on community needs.
Teach students using the Guitar Center Lessons Curriculum.
Assist with customer service as needed and help build and maintain long-term student relationships by creating a great experience.
Communicate frequently with students and families to build trusting relationships and recognize parents’ knowledge of their child as a music teacher.
Share each student’s goals and progress frequently with the student and/or parents.
Perform additional duties as assigned.
