About The Position

As the Music Teacher at Veritas Prep Middle School, you will implement a music curriculum for grades 5-8 designed to foster students' knowledge, love, and creation of music. You will collaborate with the leadership team to shape the vision for the music program as it continues to grow. Your responsibilities include planning and delivering high-quality daily instruction and working with a team of enrichment teachers to ensure students have access to engaging classes that enhance their education and prepare them for college-level work. You will also build a music program offering diverse opportunities for student engagement, teach a Seminar course focused on college, career, and life readiness using Naviance, and utilize your content knowledge to create effective lessons. You are expected to learn and contribute to school-wide systems, use data to inform decisions and support student growth, and develop students' college and career readiness skills. Building strong relationships with parents, families, and community partners is key, as is engaging in learning about and supporting anti-racism, diversity, equity, and inclusion. You will support a student-centered culture, participate in coaching and planning meetings, and teach valuable social-emotional skills.

Requirements

  • Have or be eligible for a MA teaching license in Music

  • Support the development of valuable college and career readiness skills and embed this skill-building into lessons and daily interactions.
  • Build deep relationships and actively partner and communicate with parents, families, and community partners.
  • Engage in learning about and supporting anti-racism, diversity, equity, and inclusion in education.
  • Support a school-wide student-centered culture, providing opportunities for student feedback and leadership.
  • Participate in weekly or bi-weekly coaching meetings, incorporating feedback into daily teaching and planning practices.
  • Participate actively in weekly planning meetings with fellow enrichment teachers to build a positive culture in classrooms.
  • Teach students valuable social-emotional skills and embed this skill-building into lessons and daily interactions.
