About The Position

The Grace Beginnings Academy Toddler and Preschool Music Teacher introduces young children to music and worship through singing, instruments, movement, and play. The music teacher is responsible for music classes for toddlers-prek and chapel. This is a year-round position with an 8:45 a.m.–2:15 p.m. schedule. As Grace Beginnings Academy continues to grow, this position will likely grow as well. Create a Christ-centered learning environment for children ages 1-5 years where children learn to worship through the art of music. Develop and plan music lessons in the classroom through rhythm, instruments, movement, singing and play that are aligned with the Early Childhood Indicators of Progress. Differentiate instruction to meet the needs of the students in the classroom. Connect with other Christian early childhood programs in the surrounding area. Plan, teach, and perform 3 programs throughout the year: Christmas (Infant-PreK), Sing for Joy! (Toddlers-Preschool) and Graduation (PreK). Lead and plan chapel for all grade levels. Monthly, communicate with families on music class and chapel through grade-level newsletters. Meet with parents both informally and formally throughout the year as needed. Follow the directives of the Preschool Director to maintain high standards in the classroom and provide a quality learning experience for the children. Maintain a safe, clean, organized classroom and assume the responsibility to complete the duties required to maintain an orderly facility. Approach behavioral issues that arise with children with Christ-centered love, respect, and patience. Attend all required training and staff meetings throughout the year. Attend all school community events throughout the year, even if outside scheduled hours. Regular, consistent, and punctual attendance is an essential requirement of this position. Knowledge of developmentally appropriate practice for teaching children from 1 to 5 years of age. Maintains licensing compliance. Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Must meet the licensing guidelines for lead qualification.
  • Ability to frequently sit on the floor, stand, bend, and actively lead movements for extended periods.
  • Has a heart and mission to reach the next generation with the Gospel.
  • Can clearly articulate the Gospel to a young child.
  • Exhibits a meaningful and growing personal relationship with Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior as evidenced by the manifestation of the fruit of the Holy Spirit.
  • Exhibits a lifestyle appropriate to a person in public Christian ministry by conducting life with the utmost integrity in all situations.
  • Knowledge of developmentally appropriate practice for teaching children from 1 to 5 years of age.
