About The Position

Camino Nuevo Charter Academy (CNCA) is seeking a Music Teacher for the 2026-2027 school year. CNCA is a high-performing public school network committed to preparing students from preschool through high school for success in college and life. They integrate academic rigor, community, family, and wellness to empower students. Founded in 2000, CNCA serves approximately 3,500 students in the MacArthur Park neighborhood of Los Angeles. The academy emphasizes a comprehensive approach to education, focusing on research-based, innovative curricular frameworks, ongoing teacher professional development, and collaboration. Teachers are expected to be visionaries, embrace educational advancements, and demonstrate the success of public education in low-income, multilingual communities.

Requirements

  • Valid California Single Subject Music Teaching Credential.
  • Candidates with equivalent certification from another state must be in the process of transferring to CTC or have all necessary paperwork within 14 calendar days.
  • Demonstrated track record with English language learners.
  • Demonstrated ability to implement varied classroom instructional strategies.
  • Educational vision for and experience with low-income and/or minority students.
  • Passion for working with children and their families.

Responsibilities

  • Perform a full range of teaching duties, aspiring to excellence in all areas specified by the California Standards for the Teaching Profession and the CNCA Teacher Growth Tool.
  • Provide written documentation of professional lesson planning in line with state content standards and CNCA’s expectations, including a year-long pacing plan.
  • Include planned accommodations for students with IEPs, 504 Plans, multilingual learning needs, or RTI considerations in lesson plans.
  • Work collaboratively with parents, administrators, and colleagues, including related service providers.
  • Create powerfully engaging curriculum designed to move all students towards meeting specific standards and content outlined by the California State Standards.
  • Keep detailed documentation of efforts to create consistent and meaningful communication with parents and implement strategies to promote academic success.
  • Maintain a coherent plan for classroom discipline and keep clear documentation of interventions for student behavior.
  • Maintain high-quality records for attendance and coursework, and submit completed report cards and school-wide assessment records on time.
  • Take responsibility for their own Professional Growth, with evidence of growth being part of the teacher evaluation process.
  • Employ a wide variety of teaching methods designed to create opportunities for deep understanding and differentiated instruction for all levels of ability.
  • Create and maintain a nurturing and engaging classroom environment.
  • Support CNCA’s mission, vision, and policies and promote and enforce the same.
  • Be responsible for all other tasks related to improving student achievement and offering powerful learning opportunities.
  • Effectively implement department, school, or organization-wide initiatives.
