About The Position

This is a 0.5 position located at Taylor Elementary School. The role requires the candidate to have or be eligible for Virginia licensure and be endorsed in music. Experience working with a diverse student population, successful teaching experience, curricular knowledge, and experience implementing best practices in General Music Instruction are essential. The teacher will prepare students for various performance opportunities and participate in yearly festivals. Effective communication with staff, parents, and community members is crucial, as is working effectively with the fine arts team and maintaining the music website. The position also involves providing outreach to grow the program and ensuring team-oriented work to meet timelines. The teacher will be responsible for a minimum of two school-based performances and attending county-wide Arts Education professional development. A choral pullout program for grades 4/5 will be provided, and the teacher must stay current with arts-related technology and best practices. Salary will be based on the FY2026-27 salary schedule. Requirements

Responsibilities

  • Ability to work as part of a team.

  • Participate in pyramid festival yearly for feeder schools.
  • Provide effective communications between and among school staff, Arts Education Supervisor, students, parents and community.
