The Music Production Specialist is a hybrid role that oversees the organization, metadata integrity, and documentation of all music assets within the WDI Music Studio. This position combines cue sheet management, music librarianship, research and data cleansing under the overall umbrella of the Music Production Specialist to ensure that cue sheets music files and project materials are accessible, accurately documented and tagged, searchable and archived. The specialist supports WDI Music Studio. You will report to the Global Music Executive, WDI Music Studio This is a Project Hire position without any guarantee of permanent placement.

Requirements

  • Experience in music cataloging, metadata management, and cue sheet preparation.
  • Experience working with PROs and Sound Mouse.
  • Highly resourceful in leveraging non-traditional sources to locate obscure data, performing music investigative research, and preparing detailed informational reports.
  • Prior experience in a music studio/network department, production company, music publishing environment.
  • Familiarity with music licensing, music publishing, and copyright law.
  • Knowledge of film, TV, attraction, live entertainment, scoring, recording music production workflows and music clearance processes.
  • Strong organizational, analytical, and communication skills.
  • Proficiency in music notation software (e.g., Finale, Sibelius), Digital Audio Workstation (e.g., Pro Tools, Logic Pro), and metadata tools (e.g., Excel, Airtable, digital asset management systems).
  • Ability to read music and understand musical terminology.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and manage cue sheets for all productions, ensuring accurate documentation of music usage.
  • Collaborate with composers, editors, engineers and music producers and music supervisors to gather cue information.
  • Prepare to submit cue sheets to performing rights organizations (PROs) and ensure compliance with industry standards.
  • Mastermind music library, cataloging and archiving processes, systems, software and digital asset management tools.
  • Catalog and archive music scores, recordings, digital assets and accompanying session info and business details using standardized systems.
  • Maintain both physical and digital music collections with proper taxonomy and metadata tagging.
  • Digitize legacy materials and ensure secure backups and long-term preservation.
  • Recommend and implement improvements to archival library systems and workflows.
  • Research and verify metadata including composer credits, publishing info, instrumentation, genre, and usage rights.
  • Cleanse and standardize metadata across all music assets to ensure consistency, searchability and analysis.
  • Audit metadata regularly and generate reports on data health and gaps.
  • Facilitates communication, organization, tracking and documentation between WDI Music Studio and other Disney divisions, regarding resource sharing, systems, and processes including music legal and business affairs, music publishing, cue sheets, casting, labor, music licensing, marketing, sound, audio media and more.
  • Support creative teams by providing access to music materials and assist with music research.
  • Coordinate with various production team members to ensure cue sheets are complete and accurate.
