Mentors work with first and second MP&E students in order to form a more accurate and skillful understanding of the various aspects of working within recording studios. Some aspects of mentoring include assisting incoming students with booking studio time, introducing students to large format recording consoles, teaching incoming students a solid foundation to signal flow and providing information to students about the various aspects of conducting a recording session, as a student of Music Production and Engineering. Mentors will invite students to assist with recording sessions. Tutors mentor the incoming students to form a more productive and experienced understanding of time, resource, and personnel management within the Music Production and Engineering Curriculum. MP-447 Mentor (The Business of Music Production) assists students who are having difficulty understanding or needing clarification with course material and written homework assignments. The Mentor will conduct review sessions leading up to midterms and final exams. MP-216 Mentor: Open ended position for a creative and self-motivated student who wants to coach students on their class projects. Represent the MP&E major at the Majors/Minors Fair and Admissions Welcome event. Pro Tools Graders Each semester the Mentor supervisor and Lead Mentor determine the Pro Tools Graders/Mentors from the Mentor pool. They will have an additional job in conjunction with their regular mentor responsibilities. Typically, two graders/tutors will be in charge of checking, offering a pass/fail grade and send individualized feedback to the MP-211 and MP-212 students on their Pro Tools online assignments. The professors will grade and send comments on the first MP-212 Pro Tools online assignment, then the graders/tutors can access those comments and use them as a reference for their future work.
