About The Position

School of Rock is seeking a Music Instructor for its North Haven location. The organization provides performance-based music education, using shows to teach music. The instructor is responsible for music education in lessons and rehearsals, creating a dynamic experience that challenges and inspires students and supports their development of music and life skills. School of Rock teaches keys, vocals, guitar, bass, and drums, and seeks to engage teachers’ broader musical abilities where possible.

Requirements

At least 3 years of experience teaching and/or performing music professionally.
Knowledge of music theory and curriculum design.
Ability to work well with a wide range of customers and other people.
Strong organizational skills.
Very strong customer relations skills.
Resourcefulness and problem-solving ability.
Ability to work well under pressure.
Enthusiastic, flexible, patient, and positive demeanor.
Good judgment.
Passion for teaching.

Responsibilities

Maximize the quality of music instruction in private lessons and shows.
Ensure students learn music fundamentals, not only songs.
Create and document thoughtful lesson plans.
Communicate regularly with parents about students’ progress after lessons.
Interact regularly with parents and students and remain visible and accessible at the school.
Assist with the overall execution of the program during canceled lessons.
Assist in rehearsals and basic school maintenance.
Follow the School of Rock Code of Conduct and safety policies, including the Monitoring and Supervision policy.
