Music Instructor - Guitar/Bass
About The Position
School of Rock is hiring a Music Instructor specializing in guitar and bass. The instructor is responsible for music education in lessons and rehearsals, creating a dynamic experience that challenges and inspires students while helping them develop music and life skills. Instruction may include private lessons and shows, and should teach music fundamentals in addition to songs. The instructor creates and documents lesson plans and communicates with parents about student progress. The role also involves being accessible to students and parents at the school, helping execute the program during canceled lessons, assisting with rehearsals, and performing basic school maintenance. School of Rock describes itself as a performance-based music education provider with more than 450 schools.
Requirements
- At least 4 years of experience teaching and/or performing music professionally.
- Knowledge of music theory and curriculum design.
- Ability to work well with a wide range of customers and other people.
- Strong organizational skills.
- Very strong customer relations skills.
- Resourcefulness and problem-solving ability.
- Ability to work well under pressure.
- Enthusiastic, flexible, patient, and positive demeanor.
- Good judgment.
- Passion for teaching.
Nice To Haves
- Working musician with formal music school training.
- Broader musical abilities beyond the five core areas of keys, vocals, guitar, bass, and drums.
Responsibilities
- Maximize the quality of music instruction in private lessons and shows.
- Ensure students learn music fundamentals, not just songs.
- Create and document thoughtful lesson plans.
- Communicate regularly with parents about students’ progress after lessons.
- Interact regularly with parents and students by being visible and accessible at the school.
- Pitch in on the overall execution of the program during canceled lessons.
- Assist with rehearsals and basic school maintenance.
- Follow the School of Rock Code of Conduct and safety policies, including the Monitoring and Supervision policy.
