Music Instructor- Guitar
About The Position
The YMCA of Pierce and Kitsap Counties is seeking a Music Instructor specializing in Guitar to join our team. The YMCA focuses on empowering people in all forms, by improving health and well-being and inspiring action in and across our neighborhoods. This position supports the work of the Y, a leading non-profit, charitable organization committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility. As a Music Instructor, you will be responsible for creating an enjoyable learning environment to inspire students and help them develop a strong foundation of music and instrument skills.
Requirements
- You are committed to valuing and promoting diversity and contributing to an inclusive working and learning environment.
- You have 1-2 years of experience as a music teacher and/or teaching assistant.
- You are able to instruct beginning and intermediate level music classes
- You are excited to teach music classes for ages preschool through adult.
- You have a positive attitude and previous experience with varying ages and diverse populations.
- You firmly believe that the arts should be open to everyone regardless of artistic ability, experience, or financial circumstance.
- You are able and willing to take Child Abuse prevention on the first day as well as other online and in-person trainings as required.
- Must be able to pass Background and Reference checks (in accordance with the WA State Fair Chance Act).
Nice To Haves
- 5 years of formal music training (preferred).
Responsibilities
- Developing lesson plans
- Demonstrating sound, technical and artistic principles
- Providing an impactful experience to students
- Monitoring student progress
- Communicating program information to students and parents
