About The Position

The Music Assistant assists with the planning, implementation and ongoing evaluation of quality and developmentally appropriate programs, activities, services, and special events in the club’s music program areas for youth ages 6 -18.

Requirements

High school diploma or GED
At least 1-year direct experience providing music programs for youth
Knowledge of trends in music programming, techniques and theory, and utilization of technology in the field.
Knowledge of youth development principles
Ability to multi-task and demonstrate flexibility
Must be or become current CPR/First Aid certified
Strong interpersonal and communication skills
Ability to work with youth and families from a variety of backgrounds
Ability to work independently and as a part of a team
Flexibility to work clubhouse hours – especially as seasons and service needs change
Valid Driver’s License

Nice To Haves

Bachelor’s degree
Experience in out-of-school time settings
MS Office and web competency
Bi-lingual or multilingual

Responsibilities

Assist in providing a variety of programming options reflective of the BGCB Music Program, includes running individual programs, activities, trips, etc.
Assist volunteers and consultants who can offer related instruction, support and guidance to members.
Assist in the supervision and discipline of members participating in programs and services within the program area as well as throughout the clubhouse as deemed appropriate.
Assist with the completion of BGCB’s program activity standards as assigned.
Participate in various evaluation efforts throughout each program year, including the annual member survey.
Maintain a safe and clean program area.
Know safety emergency procedures and enforce all enforce rules and protocols to ensure safety of our youth and programs.
Secure and maintain materials, equipment and other resources belonging to program area(s).
Seek out and participate in professional development opportunities as approved, provided or directed.
Participate in collaborative programs, events and field trips with staff from different clubhouse groups, staff from other BGCB clubhouses and community organizations as appropriate.
Other related duties as specified by the Music Clubhouse Program Manager and Program Director.
