About The Position

For over 25 years, National Experienced Workforce Solutions (NEW Solutions) has specialized in connecting experienced workers (ages 55+) with full-time and part-time job opportunities that support the critical missions of Federal Agencies across the United States. NEW Solutions connects experienced workers (ages 55+) with the National Park Service (NPS). These experienced professionals provide administrative expertise, facilities management, natural and cultural resource planning, and a broad array of other professional skills that support the National Park Service through the Experienced Services Program (ESP). Positions listed here do not guarantee employment for any definite period. Enrollment in the Experienced Worker Programs administered by NEW Solutions is temporary. The enrollment relationship between NEW Solutions and the Enrollee is an "at-will" relationship. This means that an Enrollee is free to terminate enrollment at any time during the enrollment period, and NEW Solutions and the Agency have the right to terminate the relationship with the Enrollee. Requirements

  • Minimum of 20 year(s) of experience in museum cataloging and database management OR BA/BS Degree in Library Science or similar
  • Experience required with Windows, MS Word, MS Excel
  • ICMS, MCMS, or similar database experience

Responsibilities

  • Assist Voyageurs National Park in cataloging backlog of 93 linear feet of archival materials and accession 20+ years of natural history specimens in preparation for cataloging and to update older records.
  • Accession collections, organize materials, catalog and enter into MCMS, store appropriately, and develop finding aids for archival records.
  • Conduct database review of legacy records in MCMS and ensure they meet NPS Museum Handbook standards.
  • Apply standardized formatting and abbreviations to existing data and edit content for grammar, ensuring data meets NPS Museum Handbook standards.
  • Move information to appropriate fields.
  • Enter new catalog records as a part of reducing the catalog backlog of museum objects and archival documents.
  • Assemble information on ownership and catalog status for VOYA natural history specimens and enter new catalog records as part of reducing the catalog backlog for natural history specimens.
