About The Position

The Denver Art Museum (DAM) is seeking a part-time, temporary Museum Shop Sales Associate to join their team. This role is crucial in representing the DAM and Museum Shop by providing high-quality customer service to all visitors. The associate will work in one of the five gift shop locations within the museum, supporting the Fall Exhibition: Diva. Responsibilities include assisting with daily shop operations, interacting with and assisting visitors, processing sales, and restocking merchandise. The ideal candidate is dependable, attentive, and committed to excellent service.

Requirements

  • A high school diploma or equivalent
  • Previous retail experience (2+ years preferred)
  • Exceptional customer service skills
  • Comfort with sales techniques such as suggestive selling and product knowledge
  • Basic math skills for handling cash and inventory
  • The ability to use positive language
  • A positive attitude and professional demeanor
  • People-oriented perspective with a focus on inclusiveness
  • Dependability, punctuality, and a team-oriented mindset

Responsibilities

  • Greet and engage customers in a friendly, professional manner
  • Understand customer needs and recommend products accordingly
  • Drive sales through product knowledge, suggestive selling, and upselling
  • Complete all POS transactions in a professional and friendly manner
  • Reconcile POS register at the end of the shift (counting monies and entering data)
  • Maintain all Shop departments and areas in a neat and organized manner, and adhere to all cleaning protocols
  • Act as a resource for questions relating to the general museum, exhibitions, the museum complex, the surrounding area, and attractions
  • Stay informed on current promotions, sales, and product features/benefits
  • Actively promote membership sales and membership renewals
  • Restock products throughout the day and at closing
  • Communicate product needs to the management team or shop lead
  • Ensure merchandise is tagged, priced, and presented neatly, including new merchandise, on the sales floor
  • Communicate effectively with coworkers and management
  • Participate in team meetings, training, and store events
  • Support peers with tasks and contribute to a positive store culture
  • Attend museum staff meetings (Huddle and All-staff) as well as attend on-going employee enrichments/training programs and customer service trainings
  • Consistent usage of the Racial Equity Lens in day-to-day operations
