About The Position

The Dr. M.T. Pope House Museum is hiring a museum educator. The position includes handling daily operations and programming tasks associated with the Dr. M.T. Pope House Museum, along with working on a variety of projects from educational programming, tours, research, event management, and more. While the position’s primary work site will be at the Dr. M.T. Pope House Museum, there is opportunity to work at additional sites in the Museum Section: John P. "Top" Greene African American Cultural Center and the City of Raleigh Museum.

Requirements

• High School Diploma required
• Effective oral and written communication required
• A working knowledge of historic time periods and historic research methods
• Applicants must have availability during the weekday, weekend and occasional evenings

Nice To Haves

• A BA in history, public history, or related museum experience preferred

Responsibilities

• Opening and closing the facility
• Public and group tours
• Field trip programming for school groups
• Public program and event management
• Assistance with exhibit development
• Other duties as assigned
