About The Position

The Museum Educator is responsible for developing and coordinating the Battleship North Carolina Memorial’s education programming. The position develops curriculum-based educational programming and materials, conducts research and interpretation, recruits and trains volunteers, and builds partnerships with schools and community organizations. The role also serves as a public-facing representative of the museum while managing the program’s administrative duties.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Art History, Biology, Botany, Conservation, Education, History or Zoology from an appropriately accredited institution
  • Four years of museum or related work
  • OR an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s degree in History, Public History, Museum Studies, Education, or American Studies.
  • Experience with North Carolina curriculum standards.
  • Strong research, writing, public speaking, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Experience with collections and archival materials
  • Knowledge to conceive, research, create, plan, and direct programs for learners of all ages, including active-duty military, by determining appropriate content and presentation methods; coordinating program logistics, determining staffing needs, and securing and coordinating volunteers.
  • Experience with naval and maritime history and the North Carolina coastal environment.
