This includes all trial court appearances, post-trial motions, and appeals. The role requires advising clients on legal and practical ramifications within the criminal justice system, determining legal strategy, and seeking out facts with the assistance of investigators and law clerks. The attorney will research legal questions, examine procedures to ensure constitutional rights are protected, and represent clients in trial before a jury or the Court. Preparation of legal documents for various court levels and maintaining ongoing knowledge of criminal law and related activities are also key responsibilities.
