About The Position

The Multimedia Specialist will be responsible for capturing high-quality photo and video content across the shipyard, including production activity, workforce and employee features, and events. This role involves planning and executing shoots, operating camera, lighting, audio, and drone equipment, and ensuring all content aligns with safety protocols. Additionally, the specialist will edit and produce video content for social media, internal communications, and recruiting initiatives, incorporating graphics, captions, and branding elements. The position also includes providing visual assets for social media and communications, recommending visual storytelling opportunities, and offering general communications support.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Film, Media Production, or a related field.
1–5 years of experience in multimedia.
Strong photo and video editing skills with proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite and/or Canva.
Strong understanding of composition, lighting, and visual storytelling techniques.
Willingness to support occasional early mornings, evenings, or weekend events (at least once a month).
Strong grasp of logistics and communication workflows.
Comfortable working in an industrial environment (shipyard/manufacturing experience a plus).
Ability to work independently and manage multiple shoots and deadlines.
Highly organized, process-oriented, and able to manage multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously.
Adaptable, solutions-oriented, and able to pivot quickly in response to changing priorities.
Proactive, self-starter with strong critical thinking skills and ability to work independently.

Candidates without existing certification must be willing to study for and obtain the required drone certification, with eligible certification costs reimbursed by HPSI.

Nice To Haves

Prior drone experience and/or FAA certification is a plus.
Experience supporting event audio/visual needs, including microphones, speakers, televisions/displays, presentation equipment, and related technology, is a plus.

Responsibilities

Capture high-quality photo and video content across the shipyard, including production activity, workforce and employee features, and events, tours, and leadership engagements.
Plan and execute shoots, including shot lists, staging, and coordination with internal teams.
Operate and maintain camera, lighting, and audio equipment.
Operate drone equipment to capture aerial photography and videography safely and in compliance with FAA regulations and HPSI requirements.
Ensure all content aligns with safety protocols and operational requirements.
Edit and produce video content for social media, internal communications, and recruiting and workforce development initiatives.
Incorporate music, graphics, captions, and branding elements into video content.
Deliver content in multiple formats optimized for various platforms.
Partner with the Digital Communications Specialist to provide visual assets for social media and communications.
Provide recommendations on visual storytelling opportunities.
Provide general communications support as needed.
Ensure that all HPSI safety procedures, rules and regulations are communicated, understood, and followed.
