About The Position

The Multimedia Specialist III (Photo/Video) will be responsible for developing communication plans, creating a wide range of written and multimedia content, managing digital platforms, and overseeing event and exhibit logistics. This role also involves providing administrative and historical support, including archival research and transcription services. The position requires a strong understanding of visual communications, video production, and public affairs environments, with the ability to manage projects from concept to completion and work both independently and as part of a team.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in visual communications, video production, or related broadcast field from an accredited institution and at least ten (10) years of recent experience as a Multimedia Specialist providing scriptwriting, caption writing, video editing, videography, video producing, and still photography services in a public affairs/corporate communications environment.
  • Experience with researching, preparing, and disseminating information through various digital media.
  • Proficient in operating digital video camera equipment and editing video software.
  • Experience producing motion graphics for video using lighting design, sound design, story development, and conducting video interviews.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work as a team member and independently.
  • Strong project management skills with ability to take projects from concept to completion.
  • Experienced in Adobe Photoshop CS 4/5, Adobe Premier Video Editing, PC and iOS operating systems, digital video conversion from one file format to another, skill in color correction and processing of print and video imagery.
  • Familiarity with Navy customs and protocols with respect to the correct wearing of the Navy uniform, security considerations, etc.

Nice To Haves

  • High school diploma or equivalent and at least fifteen (15) years of recent experience in visual communications, video production, or related broadcast field (waives bachelor's degree requirement).
  • Master's degree in visual communications, video production, or related broadcast field from an accredited institution and at least three (3) years of recent related experience (waives ten years of experience requirement).

Responsibilities

  • Develop communication plans and create written content such as speeches, feature articles, presentations, press releases, and internal/external communications.
  • Manage content for public/internal websites and social media platforms.
  • Produce, edit, and manage all multimedia products, including video, photography, and graphic design.
  • Track and report on web/social media analytics to refine strategy.
  • Provide full lifecycle management for approximately 40 annual national/international exhibits and events, including strategic planning, logistics, budget management, and preparation of approval packages and reports.
  • Provide general administrative, media relations, and outreach support.
  • Conduct archival research and provide transcription services to create historical products.
  • Research, prepare, and disseminate information through various digital media.
  • Operate digital video camera equipment and edit video software.
  • Produce motion graphics for video using lighting design, sound design, story development, and conducting video interviews.
  • Manage technical aspects of image distribution.
  • Support ONR events, which may require some travel.
