About The Position

KVIA-TV is seeking a motivated and creative Multimedia Journalist to cover issues affecting viewers across the Borderland and Southern New Mexico. The role produces compelling journalism for broadcast, digital, and social platforms within a multimedia newsroom. The El Paso/Las Cruces market offers opportunities to cover humanitarian, economic, and national security stories. The ideal candidate is a strong storyteller with a confident on-air presence, excellent reporting skills, and a passion for multimedia journalism.

Requirements

• Strong on-air presence and excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Proficiency with video editing software such as Adobe Premiere Pro, Final Cut Pro, or similar platforms.
• Knowledge of AP Style, news writing, and storytelling techniques.
• Ability to work effectively under pressure and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
• Flexibility to work early mornings, evenings, weekends, holidays, and changing schedules as news coverage requires.
• Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record.
• Must successfully pass a pre-employment background check, motor vehicle record check, and drug screening.

Nice To Haves

• Bachelor's degree in Journalism, Communications, or a related field is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Research, write, shoot, edit, and present news stories for television, digital, and social media platforms.
• Conduct interviews and gather information to ensure accurate, balanced, and impactful reporting.
• Develop story ideas and collaborate with newsroom staff on daily and long-term coverage plans.
• Deliver live reports, stand-ups, and breaking news coverage.
• Use social media to connect with audiences and promote news content.
• Maintain high standards of journalistic ethics, accuracy, and integrity.
• Stay informed about local, national, and international news developments to provide comprehensive coverage.
