Job Summary/Description: WSAZ is looking for a reporter to join its award-winning news team. The candidate must be a newsroom leader and an excellent communicator. WSAZ needs a person with a passion for learning about our community and our audience. Our audience embraces our talent because we show them that we care. This person will lead by example, representing WSAZ in the community and modeling a professional approach to the rest of the staff in areas ranging from uncovering stories to mentoring team members in a positive and constructive way. In addition, we need a person who can establish sources and be very active on the station’s digital platforms. This role will include covering news in the field by shooting, writing, and editing stories.

  • Bachelor's or better in Journalism or related field.

Responsibilities

  • Ability to collaborate with news managers, producers, and reporters for content and newscast development
  • Willing to participate in community events and make public appearances on behalf of the station
  • Edits video and stories for broadcast
  • Interview people and research facts for accuracy
  • Must demonstrate solid news judgment
  • Strong writing skills and experience writing for newscasts
  • Solid technical and computer skills, with the ability to shoot, write, and edit
