About The Position

WHSV-TV is seeking a full-time Multimedia Journalist (MMJ). This role is for a dedicated news professional who can independently handle all aspects of the storytelling process, from identifying enterprise stories and developing sources to covering breaking news and presenting on-camera. The MMJ will be responsible for shooting, writing, editing, and publishing content for both newscasts and the station's website, as well as actively engaging with viewers on digital platforms.

Requirements

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills are a MUST.
  • Must be a go-getter with the ability to work well under pressure.
  • Must be a self-motivator who demonstrates good news judgment and decision-making.
  • Maintain a positive attitude and work environment.
  • Employment is contingent on a motor vehicle background check.

Nice To Haves

  • A broadcast communications/journalism degree is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Write, shoot, and edit stories for newscasts and the website.
  • Post and regularly update stories and other material on digital platforms.
  • Utilize social media sites (e.g., Facebook and X) to report stories and interact with viewers.
  • Research, gather, and present information accurately, appealingly, timely, and creatively using all available resources.
  • Develop and maintain sources of information and knowledge about assignments for daily enterprise story pitches.
  • Participate in story selection meetings and contribute story ideas daily.
  • Demonstrate sound news judgment and collaborate with colleagues to present stories effectively.
  • Present TV stories in alternative and creative ways that emphasize storytelling techniques.
  • Lift and carry gear weighing 35-40 lbs.
  • Represent the news organization professionally and cordially in the community.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.
