About The Position

Spectrum News, part of Charter Communications, is seeking a Multimedia Journalist (MMJ) to join their team. Spectrum News operates over 30 hyper-local news and regional sports networks, focusing on original, unbiased, and high-quality content. They utilize innovative journalistic approaches and comprehensive research to inform viewers about essential local news, issues, and events. Content is distributed via TV, the Spectrum News app, and connected television, providing 24-hour news coverage across multiple platforms.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of experience in television news reporting.
  • Bachelor's degree in Broadcast Journalism, Communications, or a related field; or comparable television work experience.
  • Ability to shoot videos.
  • Understanding of video editing software.
  • Ability to utilize social media effectively.
  • Ability to communicate effectively on camera and through writing and verbal expression.
  • An innate curiosity and a sense of urgency when it comes to creating compelling stories.
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 30 pounds.
  • Must be open to travel to discover important stories in your neighborhood and willing to interact with the community.
  • Ability to work under time pressure deadlines.
  • Willing and able to work different shifts or longer shifts due to 'breaking news' and severe weather emergencies.
  • Ability to work weekends and holidays.
  • Valid driver's license for authorized driving in the state of residence.

  • Tell stories across platforms including TV, connected television, and digital.
