WLOX is seeking a Multimedia Journalist who can bring their A-game to every platform, from broadcast to the web, and into the heart of our community. This role is for a self-starter with a nose for news and a passion for connecting with audiences wherever they are, offering an opportunity to make a significant impact.

Requirements

• A degree in Communications/Journalism or equivalent passion-driven, real-world experience.
• An insatiable curiosity for current events and what truly matters to our local community.
• Digital fluency, using social media as a powerful newsgathering, storytelling, and audience engagement tool.
• Ability to work effectively in collaborative environments and independently.
• Able to confidently lift and carry essential equipment, including tripod, camera, and lights.
• A clean driving record and a valid driver's license.
• Unshakeable news judgment: knowing a story when you see it, how to tell it responsibly, and why it matters to viewers.
• Urgency with empathy: driven to get the story first, but always with respect, understanding, and a commitment to accuracy.

Responsibilities

• Write, shoot, and edit engaging news stories for TV, web, and all digital platforms.
• Report live and react instantly to breaking news, severe weather, or major community events.
• Research, pitch, and develop impactful news stories.
• Navigate fast-paced, high-pressure environments and make sound, split-second decisions during live broadcasts.
• Fill in as an anchor, showcasing versatility and leadership in front of the camera (based on interest and ability).
