About The Position
First Alert 4 is hiring a Multimedia Graphic Designer to create graphics for linear and digital content, including reporter packages, anchor boards, YouTube thumbnails, and social media. The designer reports to the Digital Director and works daily with anchors, reporters, and producers in a fast-paced newsroom. The role involves adapting to the First Alert brand and understanding its significance to the St. Louis community. The schedule is Monday through Friday, with hours that vary and are likely to fall in the afternoons or early evenings. Weekend availability is flexible for major breaking-news and weather events.
Requirements
- Creative self-starter with strong vision and fresh ideas.
- Good communication skills and willingness to collaborate in a fast-paced newsroom.
- Understand social algorithms and audience engagement, including clicks, views, and shares.
- Creative, curious, and coachable.
- Flexible schedule, including weekends for breaking news and weather.
Nice To Haves
- Experience with Adobe Creative Cloud is preferred.
- One year of experience is preferred; recent college graduates will be considered.
Responsibilities
- Create compelling graphics supporting reporter packages and anchor outboards.
- Create thumbnails for digital video, including YouTube, designed to attract viewers.
- Use understanding of social platform algorithms to maximize reach.
- Engage audiences by understanding what makes people click, watch, and share.
- Collaborate and communicate with editorial staff in a fast-paced newsroom.
- Learn and adapt to the First Alert brand and its meaning to St. Louis.
