About The Position

The New York City Comptroller’s Office is hiring a Multimedia Designer for its Communications Team. The position creates clear, accessible, on-brand visual communications across print, web, and digital platforms. The designer collaborates with writers, policy analysts, digital strategists, and other Communications Team members to translate policy and data into digestible, visually engaging content for diverse audiences. The role reports to the Creative Director and operates in a fast-paced civic environment, with a focus on making government information more accessible to the public.

Requirements

• A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college and at least four years of satisfactory full-time experience in multimedia design, communications, video production, social media management, journalism, or a related field; or equivalent education and/or experience.

Responsibilities

• Design digital and print communications, including reports, infographics, social media graphics, event materials, and data visualizations.
• Create animations and motion graphics for social media channels, presentations, and digital campaigns.
• Develop and maintain web content using WordPress and digital publishing tools.
• Produce and assemble brochures, flyers, fact sheets, and other collateral for office events and initiatives.
• Maintain and apply the office’s visual style guide to uphold brand consistency across all mediums.
• Collaborate with Communications Team members to storyboard, script, and translate policy and data into digestible, visually engaging formats for diverse audiences.
• Stay current with emerging design and animation technologies and participate in evaluating new tools for potential adoption.
• Perform other assignments and special projects as required.
