About The Position

The Multilingual Services Coordinator supports the Director of Multilingual Services in the planning, coordination, and day-to-day operations of the district's multilingual programs. This role requires a high level of knowledge regarding research-based instructional strategies, second language acquisition, Spanish language arts standards, and curriculum and assessment. The coordinator will also have experience with modeling, coaching, and providing professional development in the area of language acquisition. The role demands excellent oral and written communication skills, the ability to manage multiple tasks, and the capacity to work effectively with diverse groups of people. The position requires the candidate to be bilingual and bi-literate in English and Spanish.

Requirements

  • Knowledge of second language acquisition principles, English language development and dual language program models.
  • Understanding of state standards, language development standards, and multilingual learner compliance requirements.
  • Experience supporting curriculum implementation and instructional best practices for multilingual learners.
  • Ability to analyze student achievement and language proficiency data.
  • Strong coaching, collaboration, and communication skills.
  • Ability to organize and deliver professional learning and manage multiple projects.
  • Commitment to culturally and linguistically responsive practices.
  • Minimum five years successful teaching as an English language development or dual language teacher.
  • Master’s Degree in teaching English Language Learners and/or Dual Language Instruction preferred.
  • Must possess the appropriate teaching license with an ELD/TESOL and/or bilingual endorsement.
  • Knowledge of second language acquisition, dual language education/best practices, curriculum, instruction, and assessment.
  • Skill in the application of contemporary principles and practices of teaching, good oral and written communication skills, good interpersonal skills, and skill in exercising sound and professional judgment.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills.
  • Bilingual and bi-literate in English and Spanish.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with programs in Missouri preferred.
  • Native Spanish speakers and bilingual candidates preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Support implementation of multilingual programs across assigned schools.
  • Assist the Director in ensuring alignment of curriculum, instruction, and assessments.
  • Help monitor program compliance with state and federal requirements.
  • Maintain and update program guides, resources, and communication materials.
  • Provide coaching, modeling, and feedback to teachers to strengthen dual language and ELD instructional practices.
  • Assist with selection, inventory, and coordination of instructional materials to support multilingual programs.
  • Promote effective use of instructional technology to support multilingual learners.
  • Assist the Director with sharing of best practices and planning/delivering professional development related to multilingual services.
  • Support collection and analysis of student achievement and language proficiency data.
  • Support communication with families regarding program expectations and student progress.
  • Assist with informational sessions and outreach for prospective families.
  • Help maintain updated program communication tools (website, brochures, etc.).
  • Support onboarding of new dual language and ELD teachers.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Director.
