About The Position

The Multilingual Program Coordinator (MLPC) at Acceleration Academies serves as both a Content Coach and program coordinator for multilingual learners. This dual role combines direct instruction with specialized program management to ensure our Graduation Candidates (GCs) who are Multilingual Learners (MLs) receive appropriate support, assessment, and instructional accommodations in accordance with state and federal requirements.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree required
  • A South Carolina teaching certification with an ESOL endorsement (REQUIRED)
  • 2+ years of teaching experience (high school preferred)
  • Strong communication, time management, instructional planning, and collaboration skills
  • A deep commitment to helping at-risk youth succeed academically and personally
  • Consistent, reliable attendance during scheduled work hours
  • On-site presence (for roles designated as in-person/onsite)
  • Management of assigned workload and productivity expectations
  • Ability to perform job functions in an open, student-centered workspace

Nice To Haves

  • Master's preferred
  • Experience working in non-traditional or at-risk youth settings
  • Bilingual (Spanish preferred)
  • Familiarity with behavior intervention strategies and alternative education models
  • Experience with competency-based learning, instructional coaching, or project-based education
  • Strong comfort with educational technology tools and platforms

Responsibilities

  • Support new GC enrollment through recruitment and engagement efforts
  • Assist with the development of Personalized Learning Plans for GCs
  • Create a welcoming environment for MLs and their families
  • Plan and deliver content area instruction in individual and group settings
  • If certified in a content area, may be asked to serve as the teacher of record to address high school graduation requirements for students
  • Monitor GC progress toward course completion and content mastery
  • Conduct formative and summative assessments to gauge GC academic progress
  • Demonstrate skills in analyzing and using data for instructional decision-making
  • Apply knowledge of IEP, ESE, and ELL accommodations
  • Document assistance with annual goals, short-term objectives, benchmarks
  • Participate in appropriate meetings for ML students
  • Provide remediation and enrichment opportunities for individual and groups of GCs
  • Participate in the development and success of GC data meetings, Professional Development workshops, and other school/community events
  • Work closely with the GC support team to develop learning pathways, behavior, and transition plans
  • Develop incentives to improve GC academic achievement
  • Participate in academy meetings and other community events
  • Perform other related duties as assigned
  • Complete all required WIDA training modules and certifications annually
  • Maintain WIDA Secure Portal access and complete the annual Non-Disclosure User Agreement
  • Coordinate WIDA AMS (DRC) access for staff who complete required training
  • Process Enrollment Surveys to identify potential ML students
  • Screen potential ML students using South Carolina-approved English Language Proficiency (ELP) assessments
  • Complete screening within the required timeframes: 30 calendar days of enrollment at the start of the school year, 14 calendar days for students who enroll after the start of the school year
  • Enter student screener scores in Ellevation
  • Create parent notification letters in the MLP platform
  • Enter the required 30-day parent notification date in PowerSchool
  • Create and maintain Individualized Language Acquisition Plans (ILAPs) for all ML students
  • Update the MLP tab in PowerSchool with accurate information including: English Language Proficiency codes, Program Service Delivery Models, First Record of MLP Services date, Parent notification dates
  • Obtain and document all stakeholders' signatures for ILAPs
  • Process parent waivers when applicable while ensuring students still participate in required assessments
  • Coordinate the annual ACCESS for ELLs and ALT ACCESS for ELLs assessments
  • Maintain communication with ML families in their preferred language
  • Provide resources to ML families and ensure they understand their rights
  • Coordinate translation and interpretation services as needed
